6/29/09

Over the weekend the foursome was in Mulberry Grove, Illinois..

Mulberry Grove has existed under the names Bucktown, Houston and Shakerag. A post office was established in 1834, and Mulberry Grove was incorporated as a village in 1857.

It was extremely hot, and they actually got to swim in a pool!! :)

Next, they traveled from Mulberry Grove toward Dayton, Ohio. They stayed in Brookville, Ohio. (Brookie!!)
Brookville is a small city located in northwestern Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. Brookville's population was 5,289 at the time of the 2000 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Brookville was first established in 1832 when Warren Estabrook opened a general store just north of the present-day intersection of Main and Wolf Creek Streets. This small community began to grow in 1844 when the Wolf Creek Turnpike was opened from Dayton to Brookville.

Today, they left Brookville heading towards northern Ohio... keep you posted...

6/24/09

The foursome departed Oklahoma early this morning, it was quite a trip getting through the traffic of Ok. city!

They arrived in Branson, Missouri early today... no news yet... http://www.explorebranson.com/

5:00 received notification that it is EXTREMELY hot in Missouri... (isn't that why that place is called misery?) :)

This is directly from Eula, "We rode though gorgeous lush green hills, what a beautiful area but once we got here and hooked up everything we found out it is 100 degrees and lots of humidity.
Mike just came in and crashed on the couch. Our clothes are soaking wet. I am shocked that it is so hot here. This is not fun. But Mike keeps saying that we get to cooler areas. I am anxious to get to Niagara Falls! So, I looked at the AAA travel book and discovered there is a lot to see. I am sure we will drive through the county side and see some things tomorrow. Mark Twain's home is here and there is a museum. There are lots and lots of shows to see. We are here for 3 nights.
Pat and Sue are ok today. They did have a problem when he lowered his jacks.
There were 2 cement tracks to drive into you spot Your wheels on the cement. dirt in the middle. Well one of his jacks went down and hit one side of the cement and bent the plate on the end of the jack. Mike says that he thinks it will be ok that the jack will go up, but the plate will not fit securely because it is bent. So this is not major.
I think that we will be staying here tonight. We will certainly keep the a.c. on."

Left Amarillo and arrived in Oklahoma City, the drive wasn't too long... If you would like to read a little bit about Oklahoma: http://www.okccvb.org/

According to Eula, the Oklahoma "Welcome Center" was the nicest she had ever seen. Everyone had southern accents and everyone was really warm and welcoming.

June 22nd... and Texas keeps on happening..

Pat wants an alias! Mike is Tumbleweed, and now he wants an "A.K.A"
... anyone have any ideas? I have a couple, I am leaning towards Clark Griswold.. This was Tumbleweed's before, but I believe Pat has taken the cake on this trip!

The foursome is still in Amarillo, and just to clarify they have not eaten at that steak house, it was just a funny video we found on You Tube!

Sue is having issues with the Internet, Mike and Eula are having problems with Direct TV, he couldn't watch the Angels get slaughtered yesterday and he is really sad. A nice Texan, Larry White, helped them get their Direct TV fixed... Tumbleweed is content now.

G's Mobile RV Service is out assisting Pat with his electrical problem, it is a surge protector issue. Eula is taking a picture of the "G's", this group consists of a dad, son, wife, and 2 little kids all wearing the same blue shirt.

There is a free washer/dryer in Amarillo, you know they are taking advantage of this!

June 21st, first day of summer

June in the Northern Hemisphere is the seasonal equivalent to December in the Southern Hemisphere and vice versa. The 21st, is when the first day of summer begins. The traditional June birthstone is the pearl. The June birth flower is the rose, or the honeysuckle, as roses and honeysuckles bloom throughout June. June is also sometimes called the "Rose month."

Watch out, this could be our family!!

Fathers Day... on the road

What better way to spend Father's Day then with your spouse of 50 years, dad's best friend and love of his life, Eula Faye!

Pat and Sue did arrive safely to meet up with the Harris duo in N.M., there was still a problem with their electrical panel, Pat had wiggled some plug and the prongs were no longer hooking up correctly. While in N.M, they contacted an electrician who told Pat, "it's simple, you can do it yourself". Pat found this amusing considering the previous events they had gone through!!

They left New Mexico this morning and headed out for Amarillo Texas, first they were making a pit stop in Albuquerque, NM. (partly cloudy and 83 degrees) This is where they would pick up a new electrical plug... uh oh anyone else a little nervous that this foursome was making an attempt to fix their own electrical problem... Eula assured me that she would let me know how it went.

Watch out, it's Pat the Tool Man Piccione to the rescue!!

Driving time from New Mexico to Amarillo is approximately 6 hours...

Good afternoon! At 1:18 PM CST it's A Few Clouds and 85.0 F (29.4 C) in Amarillo.

Pat and Sue finally got their RV fixed... but then a few additional complications occurred... we won't go into that. LOL! Thanks to a friendly repair man they should be on their way to meet up with the Harris duo.

Day 2... Off to The Land of Enchantment!!

Temperatures in Flagstaff are "darn cold", over night it was in the low 40's. The Harris' clan slept over at J&H RV Park http://www.flagstaffrvparks.com/

They will be staying in AZ tonight and then heading on over to Gallup, New Mexico. They will end up at the Acoma Reservation. http://www.newmexico.org/native_america/pueblos/acoma.php

Dad is super excited about his book that someone gave him called "The WalMart Locater"... y'know it is the little things that make us happy in life! LOL!

Over the weekend they will be staying at Sky City RV park... and yes folks there is a casino... Big Money Eula Faye!!!

Day 1 June 17, 2009

As Willie Nelson sings, "Mom and Dad are on the road again"
Both rigs departed at 6:00 a.m. from Palm Springs on their way for a "three month adventure". While driving down the road Sue and Pat's RV started smoking and over heated! They decided to turn around and go back to Palm Springs in order to take the RV to Colton tomorrow to get it fixed.
Mom and Dad kept the adventure alive and kept going. They arrived in Flagstaff, AZ safely and will be staying the night... or two or three... (they will be waiting for Pat & Sue)

When they arrived in AZ, they realized the battery on the jeep was dead, had to get it jumped and went to their first auto store.
